Long Term Care Insurance Education and Outreach Program (LTCIEOP)
This program educates the general public in all aspects of long term care insurance to prepare them financially for the possibility of needing home care or a nursing home stay in the future. Through a long term care insurance resource center that has been developed in Broome County, residents are provided with educational and informational materials, counseling, referral services and direct assistance in choosing and obtaining long term care insurance.
Direct assistance includes:
- planning for the financing of long term care;
- understanding policy options, benefits and appeal rights;
- obtaining the coverage needed and the appropriate benefits; and
- avoiding or reporting illegal billing, fraudulent practices or scams
